Test Drain Valve-Product Description
UL Approved Test Drain Valve is a type of ball valve used in fire systems, especially for testing whether the system is working or not. It is mounted in the zones deemed necessary on the system from the fire alarm valves to the sprinkler installation. The globe used in the Test Drain Valve can be rotated by the valve arm via the shaft and consists of 3 positions as test, drain and closed. In the test position, the ball hole is an orifice with the diameter determined according to the smallest diameter sprinklers in the zone. With this orifice, it is possible to calculate and test the amount and time of water to be discharged from the sprinkler, if needed. The drainage position allows it to be used as a relief valve when desired. Through the sight glass on both sides of the Test Drain Valve, the passing flow can be observed.UL Approve
UL Approved Test and Drain Valve is a type of ball valve that has the task of supervising the operation of fire suppression systems. Test valves, which are frequently preferred in fire extinguishing systems, undertake a very critical task. In addition to checking whether the system is working, another task of the test valves is to ensure that the maintenance and repair works of the system can be carried out. These valves, which enable the management of the fire extinguishing system locally, make it possible to perform regional maintenance and repair. It also plays an important role in maintenance and repair work, ensuring that the installation is in a passive position.
What is a UL Approved Test and Drain Valve and What Does It Do?
The UL Approved test and drain valve is a type of valve that performs a very important task in the sprinkler system. Periodic maintenance on fire extinguishing systems should be carried out regularly. In these maintenance works, test valves are needed. Test and drain valves basically have two different functions.
The first of these functions is to follow the water flow by being mounted in the desired area in the fire extinguishing system, between the alarm part and the sprinkler installation. In this follow-up process, water and water flow can be detected with the help of an orifice. It is possible to calculate the amount of water to be discharged during the test process and, accordingly, how long the water will be discharged.
Type of valve developed to safely and comfortably perform maintenance and repair work in sprinkler installations. These types of valves, which have three different positions, mostly have two functions. It is possible to use the valve for different purposes with closed, test and drainage positions. However, the main reason why the valve is preferred is to carry out regional or general maintenance and repair works.
In the drainage position, which is another position of such valves, it is possible to monitor the system that controls the air pressure. In this way, it is possible to determine the pressure values as well as to determine whether the system is working or not. It can also be used to drain the water and make the system ready for maintenance and repair.
What Does a UL Approved Test and Drain Valve Do?
Creates an even flow in fire systems, allowing to control whether the alarm unit of the system is working. If these valves are connected to closed lines, the glass on the valve can be used to make sure that water is discharged or not and to determine how much water is discharged. With the help of this glass, water flow can be observed.
Test and drain valves with a working pressure of 300 psi can be mounted in two different ways, threaded and threaded. Another function of test and drain valves is the test function used in dry pipe pre-reaction fire extinguishing systems. The task of test and drainage valves for such installations is to determine whether the flowing water amount has the appropriate flow.
Where is the UL Approved Test and Drain Valve Used?
UL approved test and drain valve are YL approved valves. It is also ULC listed and FM approved. It is possible to use test and drainage valves in any sprinkler system deemed appropriate. In some cases, it may be necessary to use these valves. Especially in periodical maintenance, test and drainage valves should be preferred.
It can also be used to check whether the sprinkler system is working properly. Therefore, test and drain valves are suitable for use in maintenance and repair as well as in studies where the system is tested. The glasses on both sides of the valve allow it to monitor the water flow and provide appropriate data for system safety.
